Lauren Copeland

Lauren est originaire de Boston, au Massachusetts, où elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en Études de l’enfant à l’Université Tufts en 1990.  Il y a plus de 30 ans, elle a épousé un officier de la marine canadienne affecté à Halifax et à Victoria, ainsi qu’à Windsor, en Ontario.  Lorsque son mari a pris sa retraite de la MRC en 2009, ils ont choisi de rester à Halifax où ils ont élevé leurs deux filles.  Elle a travaillé pour le Centre de ressources pour les familles des militaires (CRFM) de la région de Halifax pendant 17 ans, en étant d’abord la première directrice de la garderie en 1998 et la première coordonnatrice de la garde d’enfants en cas d’urgence en 1999.  Après avoir obtenu un certificat en leadership dans le secteur sans but lucratif au Henson College de l’Université Dalhousie en 2005, elle a assumé le rôle de gestionnaire de l’équipe des services. En 2015, elle a quitté le CRFM et elle et son mari ont déménagé leur famille dans la région d’Ottawa, où ils vivent encore aujourd’hui.  Lauren demeure active au sein de sa communauté et fait actuellement du bénévolat auprès de l’Ottawa-Carleton District School Board à l’École secondaire pour adultes afin d’aider les nouveaux immigrants à apprendre et à améliorer leurs compétences en anglais.

Heng Chhay Chao, CD, MBA, Directeur des Ressources humaines, Association du barreau canadien

Le capitaine de corvette Chhay Chao (retraité) a servi dans la Marine royale canadienne entre 2005 et 2022, où il a exercé diverses fonctions d’état-major et opérationnelles et participé à de nombreux déploiements et exercices opérationnels dans des pays aussi divers que le Soudan, l’Ukraine et le Moyen-Orient.  Depuis sa retraite, Chhay a occupé des postes dans le domaine des ressources humaines (RH) au sein de diverses organisations, comme une grande entreprise de technologie et une organisation à but non lucratif, apportant une approche axée sur les données à ses équipes de RH.  Il a obtenu son diplôme d’ingénieur en systèmes informatiques à l’Université Carleton en 2004 et sa maîtrise à la Rotman School of Management en 2021.  Chhay est actuellement directeur des ressources humaines et des relations de travail au sein du service de police d’Ottawa.

Chantal Beauvais

Dr. Chantal Beauvais has 20 years of experience in university leadership, most recently as Rector at Saint-Paul University (Ottawa), where she was responsible for implementing the university’s strategic vision, including transformative change in its day-to-day operations. She has experience in university governance, including as past Chair of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean Board of Governors. Her involvement also includes public sector associations and committees focused on social integration and the accessibility of higher education to marginalized persons. She currently chairs the board of the Gîte-Ami in Gatineau, which provides individuals experiencing homelessness with emergency shelter, transitional housing, community-based supportive housing, and support for social reintegration. She served as a member of the Canadian Military Colleges Review Board, mandated to analyze the costs, benefits, advantages, anddisadvantages, both to the CAF and Canada, of continuing to educate Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) naval/officer cadets at both the Royal Military College (RMC) Kingston and RMC Saint-Jean.

Cal Bricker, Président Directeur-Général, Brix Strategies

Cal Bricker est un dirigeant qui possède plus de 30 années d’expérience dans les secteurs réglementés, en particulier les services d’infrastructure, le divertissement et les produits emballés.  Plus récemment, il a été président-directeur général de la Société ontarienne du cannabis, agence gouvernementale chargée de l’achat, de la vente en gros et de la distribution de plus d’un milliard de dollars de cannabis dans la plus grande province du Canada. Auparavant, il a été vice-président principal de la Société des loteries et des jeux de l’Ontario et a occupé des postes de direction chez Waste Management Canada, Les Brasseries Labatt et Les Brasseries Molson. M. Bricker est aussi un officier militaire décoré, qui sert actuellement en tant que capitaine de réserve (marine) dans la Marine royale canadienne. Au cours de sa carrière militaire, il a effectué trois missions en Afghanistan.  M. Bricker est titulaire d’un doctorat en sciences politiques de l’Université de l’Alberta.  Il est diplômé de l’Université Wilfrid Laurier et a étudié le commerce à la Kellogg School of Management de l’Université Northwestern. Il a siégé à de nombreux conseils d’administration privés, publics et à but non lucratif, et a notamment présidé le conseil d’administration de la Société ontarienne de gestion des déchets.  Il siège actuellement au conseil d’administration du Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy et est gouverneur honoraire de la Fondation pour le journalisme canadien.  Il a fondé Brix Strategies, agence multidisciplinaire spécialisée dans la gestion des crises et des enjeux.

Anne Healey

Anne Healey is the Country Director and a board member of BAE Systems Canada.  A graduate of the Telfer School of Management, Anne has over thirty years of experience working with the defence sector, fostering industrial growth and development.  Previously, Anne worked with several defence companies and associations in Canada.   

She has been on several Boards, including the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI).  She fulfills the role of Past-President of Women in Defence and Security and member of their advisory board.  She was also a long-standing participant on the Defence Industrial Advisory Group (DIAG).  Anne currently sits on Defence Industrial Leadership (DIL) for the Canada-UK Business Committee. 

Anne has been awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from the United States Army Research, Development and Standardization Group, as well as a Merit Award for exceptional and distinguished Public Service.

Jeff Topping

HCapt (N) Jeff Topping is the Director National Restaurants Development for McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada. His 35-year career has spanned operations, field service, management training, construction, project management, and real estate.

The son of a naval officer, Jeff made a personal commitment to “serve those who serve.” He is active in multiple communities, serving on the national and Toronto boards of the Naval Association of Canada. In recognition of his volunteer service and support to Canada’s naval community, he was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025. He is an active member of the London Garrison Community Council and serves as a civilian instructor at RCSCC COURAGEOUS. He is President and Board of Directors and Chair for HMCS Haida, the Flagship of the Royal Canadian Navy, with a mandate to Preserve, Protect and Promote the legacy of Canada’s most famous warship. These experiences, and his participation in the Canadian Leaders at Sea program, led to his appointment as Honorary Captain.

Steven Waddell

Rear Admiral (retired) Steven Waddell served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 36 years in a variety of operational, staff and executive appointments. He deployed extensively across most of the globe’s seas, leading at all levels and often among international allies. He was privileged to hold several command appointments which included three years’ service as the Deputy Commander of the RCN. Steven holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Manitoba; Master’s Degrees from King’s College London, UK and Salve Regina University, USA; and is a graduate of two allied war colleges. As a Base Commander, he worked extensively with the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre, and was also a Board Director with the United Way of Greater Victoria. Steven now works in the private sector, supporting the delivery of infrastructure solutions for national objectives. He continues to invest family time, and resources, into his cottage on Lake Temagami.
